Continuing the theme of life and death, creation and destruction, new life from decay, and in response to the burnt timber works from last year. I would like to submit weather silvered, partially water decayed (rotted) timber that has been on the roof of my house my whole life. These silvered timbers when dried and oiled should have a parallel silken/satin qualities of the charcoal in last years works. These found objects, in opposition to the sudden destruction of fire, have decayed over 30 years but in their return to dust have grown moss, lichen and harboured insects.. growth and nutrient recycling can only come from the destruction of these objects. In both instances the disintegration to dust leads to rebirth. Dust to dust, ashes to ashes.
